Uganda have qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2025 FIBA U16 AfroBasket in Kigali, marking a significant milestone for the young side.
The Junior Silverbacks advanced on Wednesday without playing, after results elsewhere went in their favor.
Liberia’s 74–69 victory over Morocco left them with an inferior point differential, allowing Uganda and hosts Rwanda to claim the last two available spots in the Last Eight.
Both East African teams finished with one win and two losses, but Uganda’s +6 differential ensured safe passage.
Uganda now face a tough test against Cameroon in the quarter-finals on Friday at 10:00 GMT at Petit Stade Gymnasium. Cameroon swept their group with a perfect 3–0 record.
The other quarter-final matchups pit Angola against Egypt, Mali against Tunisia, and Côte d’Ivoire against Rwanda.
Semi-finals will be played on Saturday, with the tournament concluding Sunday in Kigali.
