LeBron James made history on Tuesday, becoming the first player to participate in 23 consecutive NBA seasons as he debuted for the Los Angeles Lakers in their 140-126 home win over the Utah Jazz.
The 40-year-old, who missed the first 14 games due to sciatica, surpassed Vince Carter’s record of 22 seasons. James contributed 11 points and 12 assists in 30 minutes.
During the game, the NBA’s all-time scoring leader also moved past Reggie Miller into sixth place on the all-time list for three-pointers made.
Lakers star Luka Doncic led the team with a game-high 37 points and 10 assists. He praised James’s return, stating: “For the first game back, he looked amazing. He’s going to keep getting his rhythm, and help us a lot.”
The win elevates the Lakers to fourth in the Western Conference.
