Tottenham Hotspur supporters’ groups have rejected the club’s move to appoint Roberto De Zerbi as manager, citing his public backing of Mason Greenwood.
The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust held an emergency meeting and told the club it “cannot support” the decision, after receiving numerous complaints from fans.
Women of the Lane co-founder Ali Speechly said she will stop attending matches, calling De Zerbi’s defence of Greenwood “unforgivable.” Proud Lillywhites and SpursREACH also voiced opposition, warning the appointment undermines Spurs’ values of equality and respect.
De Zerbi, who signed Greenwood for Marseille in 2024, described the striker as a “good lad” who had “paid in a strong way” after charges against him were dropped. Critics accuse him of downplaying serious allegations.
Despite the backlash, Spurs have confirmed De Zerbi on a long-term deal as they battle to stay in the Premier League.
