City Oilers Extend Winning Streak: Baale Steals the Show

City Oilers guard Fayed Baale expressed confidence in the team’s momentum following their 99-63 triumph over Livingstone last night at the Lugogo indoor arena. Baale led with a game-high 18 points, supported by Benjamin Kawumi and captain James Okello, who contributed 15 and 14 points respectively, showcasing the team’s depth as all 12 players contributed to the scoreline.

Reflecting on the team’s performance, Baale stated, “Everyone is getting playing time, and we’re gaining confidence. The new players are eager to contribute, and I believe we’ll perform even better in our next game.”

Acknowledging Livingstone’s resilience, Baale remarked, “Livingstone put up a good fight, especially considering their recent entry into the league. They showed promise and will likely have a successful season.”

Despite Livingstone’s center, Diopa Lukusa, delivering an impressive performance with 12 points and 9 rebounds, the Oilers dominated the game, securing their eighth win of the season and claiming the top spot in the standings.

Livingstone Head coach Eric Matovu attributed the loss to turnovers, stating, “We committed too many turnovers, particularly in the first quarter, which allowed our opponents to capitalize and build a lead.”

Looking ahead to their next match against UCU, Matovu emphasized the team’s focus on rectifying mistakes and improving their performance, highlighting that the season is still in its early stages.

The basketball action continues tomorrow at the Lugogo indoor arena, with Magic Stormers facing Kampala University at 7pm, followed by Namuwongo Blazers taking on D-Mark Power at 9pm. Fans can catch the live broadcast on NBS Sport.
