Blacks Power FC were officially crowned champions of the FUFA Big League on Sunday after completing a successful 2025/26 season that saw them secure both promotion and the league title.
The crowning ceremony was held at the Ebenezer University Playground, which served as the club’s home venue throughout the campaign, as players, officials and supporters celebrated a season that ended with the Lira-based side at the summit of the standings.
Blacks Power finished the season with 55 points from 30 matches, narrowly beating Ntugasaze FC to the championship by a two-point margin. Their title-winning run included 16 victories, seven draws and seven defeats.
The trophy handover and crowning ceremony was officiated by Dan Obote, a member of the FUFA Executive Committee representing the Northern Region. Also present during the celebrations was Blacks Power chairperson Agnes Mugena, who serves on the FUFA Executive Committee.
Former footballer Okwir Emmanuel presented the championship trophy to the newly crowned winners. Okwir enjoyed a lengthy playing career featuring spells with Boroboro FC, Police FC, Sporting United FC, Amuka FC, Saviours FC, Northern Gateway FC and Elite FC.
FUFA also recognised outstanding individual performers from the 2025/26 campaign during the awards ceremony.
Gerald Ogweti of Bunyaruguru United FC was named the league’s Most Valuable Player, while Herbert Ofoy Rwoth claimed the Golden Glove Award after recording 15 clean sheets during the season.
The Top Scorer Award went to Isaac Gumperom of Young Elephants FC, who finished the campaign with 17 goals.
For Blacks Power, however, the biggest prize was the league trophy itself as they capped a memorable season by lifting the FUFA Big League crown and confirming their return to top-flight football.
