NEC FC made history with a commanding 2-0 victory over Police FC, securing their first-ever semifinal berth in the Stanbic Uganda Cup. Goals from Cromwell and Wahab in both halves of the game propelled NEC FC to victory in a highly anticipated match held on April 10, 2024.
The game started with NEC FC displaying their determination to win and progress, as Cromwell found the back of the net just two minutes into the game with a well-placed shot over the goalkeeper. Despite numerous opportunities, including a close effort from Okocha, NEC FC held onto a slim 1-0 lead at halftime.
The second half saw NEC FC maintain their attacking prowess, with Kavuma Marvin injecting fresh energy into the team’s forward line. A penalty awarded to NEC FC after Kavuma was brought down in the box provided the opportunity for Gadafi Wahab to calmly convert and double their lead, sealing a comfortable victory.
With this win, NEC FC sets up a thrilling semifinal clash against an as yet unidentified opponent in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
Looking ahead, NEC FC is preparing for their next challenge in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League as they face URA FC on April 16, 2024, at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.
