Former Harambee Stars and Gor Mahia midfielder Collins Gatusso Okoth remains in custody following his arrest in connection with the tragic death of a three-year-old girl in Nairobi.
The child’s lifeless body, displaying signs of violence and suspected sexual assault, was discovered outside her mother’s residence in Lucky Summer Estate, prompting a swift police response.
Okoth, who resides in the same building as the victim, was apprehended after police found a weapon believed to have been used in the break-in at the child’s home.
According to court documents, Okoth was seen attempting to leave the premises with his belongings shortly before his arrest on April 23. He did not object to the court’s decision to detain him for 21 days, allowing for further investigations into the matter.
The investigation, led by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), involves gathering mobile data records and CCTV footage from the area for forensic analysis.
Additionally, Okoth is scheduled for DNA testing and a mental assessment before his court appearance on June 3, 2024.
