Namblazers Shine in High-Scoring Victory Over UCU Canons

Joseph Chuma’s outstanding performance inspired the Namuwongo Blazers to a decisive 109-93 victory over the UCU Canons in an exciting National Basketball League at the MTN Arena in Lugogo.

Chuma dominated the game, scoring a game-high 33 points and adding 5 rebounds and 2 assists, earning an impressive game index of 39.

His efforts were bolstered by Jimmy Williams, who contributed 22 points, 5 rebounds, and a remarkable 10 assists. Peter Cheng also played a pivotal role, recording a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

The match began evenly, with both teams tied at 25 points at the end of the first period. The Namblazers surged ahead in the second period, outscoring the Canons 31-21 to take a 10-point lead into halftime.

Despite a strong third period from the Canons, who outscored the Namblazers 28-25, the Namblazers maintained their lead. In the final period, the Blazers pulled away, securing their victory with a 28-19 run.

For the UCU Canons, Emmanuel Makuei stood out with 8 points and 4 rebounds, while Jonathan M. Kasilimbi added 2 points in limited minutes. The Canons shot an impressive 56% from the field (35/62) and 73% from the free-throw line (14/19), but their efforts were undermined by 23 turnovers compared to the Namblazers’ 10.

Statistically, the Namblazers excelled in several areas, shooting 46% from the field (42/91) and 34% from beyond the arc (11/32). They matched the Canons’ free-throw accuracy with a 73% success rate (14/19). The Namblazers also dominated in assists (25 to 12) and steals (16 to 4), and their defensive pressure forced numerous turnovers.

The Namblazers who lead the standings with 31 points return to action on Sunday against Our Saviour and will look to continue their winning run.
