Nakivubo Reopening: Golola Praises Ham, Urges Government Support for Sports Infrastructure

Renowned kickboxer Moses Golola has called on the Ugandan government and Parliament to bolster support for sports development in the country. He made the appeal after a guided tour of the newly refurbished Nakivubo stadium, set to reopen to the public on June 1, 2024.

Golola emphasized the importance of government investment in sports infrastructure during his visit.

“I thank Ham for this wonderful facility, Nakivubo Ham’s Ground,” Golola said.

“I also call on our leaders to do more. Let us build more grounds like this across Uganda, so our youth can have access to quality facilities and reach their full potential,” he added.

The refurbished Nakivubo stadium, now known as Nakivubo Ham’s Ground, represents a significant advancement for sports venues in Uganda.

However, Golola pointed out that the country still faces numerous challenges in the sports sector, including inadequate funding, poor infrastructure, and limited access to resources.

Golola urged Parliament to allocate more resources to sports development, highlighting the broad benefits such investment can bring.

“Investing in sports grounds across the country can significantly benefit young athletes and the nation as a whole,” he said.

The kickboxer, who is set to face off against Umar Semata in a highly anticipated bout at the Nakivubo Ham’s Ground on June 1, used the occasion to stress the need for improved sports facilities.

He believes that better infrastructure will not only help athletes achieve their potential but also foster community development and national pride.
