Following the draws and fixtures for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League on August 24, 2024, Kawempe Muslim Ladies have expressed their confidence and determination to win the title.
Captain Phiona Nabulime of Kawempe Muslim Ladies spoke about her team’s readiness and strategic approach.
While acknowledging the strength of all participating teams, she highlighted Simba Queens as a particular challenge.
“All teams are good, but Simba Queens might be somewhat hard for us. We believe that for each game, we have a strategy, and we shall handle everyone in the best way possible to grab the points,” said Nabulime.
She added that the players have returned to camp with renewed focus and dedication, ready to put in the necessary effort to achieve success.
“We have come back into the camp to work hard and prepare for the qualifiers,” Nabulime stated.
Head Coach Ayubu Khalifa shared his determination to lead Kawempe Muslim Ladies to success, aiming to improve upon the performance of previous Ugandan teams.
He acknowledged the challenges faced by past representatives and expressed a clear goal to surpass their achievements.
“Many teams have been representing, but have not been able to make it, and it’s now the fourth time,” said Khalifa.
“The main reason is to go and do better than the previous teams that have been representing Uganda.”
Kawempe Muslim Ladies are grouped with Simba Queens, PVP Buyenzi, and FAD Djibouti in Group B.
They will kick off their 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers against PVP Buyenzi on August 18, 2024, at 13:00 at the Abebe Bikila Stadium.
