The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the groups for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Challenge League, featuring twelve teams split into Challenge League A and Challenge League B.
The competition will run from 2024 to 2026, with winners and runners-up from each group advancing to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier Playoff.
Challenge League A includes Denmark, Jersey, Kenya, Kuwait, Papua New Guinea, and Qatar, while Challenge League B comprises Bahrain, Hong Kong China, Italy, Singapore, Tanzania, and Uganda.
The Challenge League serves as a crucial pathway for emerging nations to qualify for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
Chris Tetley, ICC Head of Events, emphasized the significance of the Challenge League as a vital stepping stone towards the pinnacle of men’s ODI cricket.
“The Challenge League represents an important stage in qualification through to the 14-team ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2027,” Tetley remarked.
“This competition provides a competitive platform for high-performing emerging nations to stake a claim for World Cup qualification,” he added.
