Uganda Shows Promising Start in Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier Warm-up Matches

In the lead-up to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier, Uganda demonstrated a commendable start in their warm-up matches, indicating a blend of batting resilience and bowling prowess.

Uganda commenced their campaign with a victory against Vanuatu in their inaugural warm-up clash.

Rita Musamali’s steadfast performance produced 35 runs helping Uganda to a competitive total of 119/6. Supported by disciplined bowling, Uganda efficiently restricted Vanuatu to a sub-100 total, securing a substantial win.

However, Uganda encountered hurdles in their subsequent warm-up fixture against the UAE.

Struggling to find momentum with the bat, they posted a modest 69/9 in their allotted 20 overs, facing challenges in finding boundaries.

Despite a promising start with the ball in their initial match, Uganda’s bowlers encountered difficulties as the UAE comfortably chased down the target with nine wickets in hand.

Uganda will kick off their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier campaign against Scotland on Wednesday 25th April. They will then face the USA on Friday 27th April before facing Thailand on 29th April. The ladies will then close the group stage against Sri Lanka on 1st May.

Uganda must make it to the final to qualify for the Women’s T20 World Cup.
