Cricket Cranes Suffer Second Defeat in T20 World Cup Warm-Up Matches

The Uganda Cricket Cranes faced another setback in their preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup, suffering their second consecutive defeat in practice matches against the Sri Lanka Development side.

In the first match of the series, Uganda, after winning the toss, chose to bowl first. Sri Lanka Development posted a formidable total of 164 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Ugandan bowler Juma Miyagi impressed with a four-wicket haul. However, Uganda’s batting effort fell short as they managed only 145 runs for the loss of 6 wickets, failing to chase down the target set by Sri Lanka.

Dinesh Nakran emerged as Uganda’s leading run-scorer in the match, contributing 39 runs off 31 balls, including 2 fours and 2 sixes.

In the second encounter, Uganda once again won the toss and elected to bat first. However, their batting lineup struggled to find momentum, posting a total of 131 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Despite a valiant effort, notably from Alpesh Ramjani, who scored 26 runs with 2 sixes, Uganda’s total proved inadequate as Sri Lanka Development reached the target in just 13 overs, securing victory by 5 wickets.

These practice matches hold significant importance for Uganda as they gear up for their debut appearance in the T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in the West Indies and the USA. The Cricket Cranes will look to learn from these experiences and make necessary adjustments before the tournament commences.
