Abhay Sharma the recently appointed head coach of the Cricket Cranes has expressed optimism and confidence as the team gears up for their debut at the T20 World Cup.
Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated event, Sharma highlighted the positive signs evident in the team’s preparation.
“The signs are good if we are to go by the way things are shaping up,” Sharma stated.
He also emphasized the team’s focus on refining skills and enhancing the players’ mindset.
“We have tried to refine the skills but also work on the mindset of the players,” he added.
Acknowledging the psychological aspect of cricket, Sharma underscored the importance of discipline and adherence to training instructions.
“Cricket is a mind game. The players have been disciplined and have followed the instructions we gave them on the training ground,” he remarked.
Sharma also noted a notable shift in attitude among the players, citing their excitement about representing Uganda on the global stage.
“The attitude has changed for sure. The players are excited about the opportunity of representing Uganda on the global stage. We want to make a mark globally,” he affirmed.
The Cricket Cranes are set to fly to Guyana, where the team is set to participate in two warm-up matches against Namibia on May 28th and Scotland on May 30th.
These warm-up matches will provide crucial preparation ahead of their tournament opener against Afghanistan on June 4th.
