The Baby Victoria Pearls are ready to go for the 2025 U-19 World Cup qualification campaign in Kigali, Rwanda.
They were flagged off at Copper Chimney in Lugogo on Wednesday ahead of the trip to Kigali on Friday, September 20.
Captain Jimia Mohammad is optimistic that together with her teammates they will perfectly represent the country hoping to qualify for the World Cup for the first time.
“We have had good preparations where we have played several games to gauge our readiness,” Mohammed told the media before adding.
“Every member of the team is eager and looking forward to the tournament and I am optimistic that we shall break the jinx and qualify for the World Cup.”
A single slot is up for grabs and eight teams will compete in the qualification tournament from September 20 to 30.
Uganda is pooled in Group A alongside hosts Rwanda, Namibia and Kenya. They will face the latter in their first game on Sunday.
Uganda finished fourth at the 2022 qualifiers held in Botswana. The 2025 edition will be conducted in Malaysia in January next year.
