Wanderers Cricket Club edged out Rounders by a narrow margin of three runs to be crowned champions of the Uganda Premier Cricket League (UGL) Men’s UGT20 League.
This was the club’s first piece of silverware in eleven years.
Wanderers, who batted first, were bowled out for 99 runs in 17.2 overs.
Wasim Butt scored 10 runs for Wanderers, while Didier Ndikwibimana and Perry Wazombe contributed 27 and 24 runs respectively.
Rounders’ bowling attack, led by David L Mwesigwa and Narinder Singh, shared the spoils, taking three wickets each.
In reply, Rounders fell short of the target, mustering only 96 runs in their allotted 20 overs.
Openers struggled to find momentum, and despite a valiant effort from the middle order, Rounders were unable to cross the finish line.
Narinder Singh was the highest scorer for Rounders with 14 runs, while Wanderers’ Martin Akayezu was named Player of the Match.
