Cricket Cranes Face Bahrain in Challenge B Warm-up Series

The Uganda Cricket Cranes are poised to take on Bahrain in a three-match series starting Monday, October 28th, at the Jinja Senior Secondary School Oval.

This series, comprising two T20 Internationals and a 50-over match, serves as crucial preparation for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League B (CWCCL B) tournament, which Uganda will host from November 4th to 16th.

The Cricket Cranes have been honing their skills in a rigorous training camp in Jinja, focusing on both physical fitness and tactical strategies.

Head Coach Abhay Sharma aims to rotate players throughout the series, giving opportunities to emerging talents and finalizing the squad for the CWCCL B.

“This series is a stepping stone to the Challenge League,” Sharma said. “We’re focusing on building momentum and ensuring every player is ready to contribute.”

The coaching staff, including Assistant Coach Jackson Ogwang and High-Performance Consultant Craig Williams, is working closely with the players to fine-tune their skills and strategies.

Fitness specialist Emmanuela Oroma and physiotherapist Ghalena Udaka are also integral to the team’s preparation, ensuring optimal physical condition.

Craig Williams emphasized the importance of controlled batting and disciplined bowling.

“The batters need to be patient, prioritize singles, and look for opportunities to score boundaries. Our bowlers must be accurate and economical,” he said.

The T20I matches will provide valuable experience for the Cricket Cranes, with the 50-over match offering a glimpse into the format they will encounter in the CWCCL B.
