With just four races remaining in his Mercedes contract, Lewis Hamilton admits he’s closely monitoring the resurgent form of Ferrari, his future team.
Ferrari has emerged as a dominant force in recent weeks, with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz securing back-to-back Grand Prix victories in the United States and Mexico.
This impressive run has propelled them into second place in the constructors’ championship, just behind McLaren.
While Mercedes has enjoyed a successful season with three consecutive wins earlier in the year, their recent performance hasn’t matched Ferrari’s scorching pace.
Hamilton, who will join forces with Leclerc and team principal Fred Vasseur at Ferrari in 2025, acknowledged his interest in their progress.
“I’m very interested in my future, of course,” Hamilton said. “And so, in that respect, keeping an eye, yeah. Watching everything that happens.”
Ferrari’s recent success has fueled expectations for what Hamilton might achieve next year.
The seven-time world champion expressed his encouragement by the team’s competitiveness.
“It’s been quite incredible to see the McLaren rise and then the Ferrari in the last few races, to see their progress,” he remarked. “Just trying to keep an eye on everyone’s car and what they’re changing and what they’re adding.”
While excited about his future with Ferrari, Hamilton expressed regret over Mercedes’ absence from the current championship fight.
“Of course that’s what we would have all loved, to have been in the fight for the championship,” he said. “But yeah, I know this team so well, and I know that the results and the position we’re in this year will just only fuel them even more to work harder to have a better car next year.”
