Hong Kong secured a thrilling three-wicket victory over Bahrain in their ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League B match at the Lugogo Cricket Oval on Thursday.
The match was reduced to 46 overs per side due to rain interruptions, but Hong Kong managed to chase down the revised target of 201 runs.
Babar Hayat was the star of the show for Hong Kong, scoring a brilliant century (103 runs) to guide his team to victory.
His innings was filled with elegant strokes and aggressive intent, as he took the Bahrain bowlers to the cleaners.
Bahrain, batting first, posted a competitive total of 200 runs, with contributions from several batsmen.
However, Hong Kong’s bowlers, led by Aizaz Khan and Martin Coetzee, kept the scoring rate in check.
Hong Kong face Italy next on Saturday November 9 while Bahrain take on Singapore on Sunday November 10.
