Formula One legend Lewis Hamilton has admitted to a moment of doubt during the Brazilian Grand Prix, seriously contemplating retiring from the season early.
The seven-time world champion had endured a disastrous weekend that saw him finish a disappointing 10th.
“In the heat of the moment, I just didn’t want to come back,” Hamilton confessed. “I wanted to be on a beach, chilling.”
However, the allure of a final push with Mercedes and the anticipation of his upcoming move to Ferrari have since rekindled his competitive spirit.
The upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix marks the penultimate race of Hamilton’s illustrious 12-year career with Mercedes.
Despite the recent setbacks, he remains determined to conclude his tenure on a high note. “I’m going to give it absolutely everything for these last few races,” he vowed.
Amidst the drama, tensions between Formula One drivers and the FIA have escalated. George Russell, a prominent figure in the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association (GPDA), expressed frustration with the governing body’s recent decisions, particularly the removal of race director Niels Wittich.
The GPDA has openly criticized the FIA’s lack of transparency and has demanded more respectful treatment.
