U17WWCQ: Nabukenya Leads Goal-Scoring Onslaught Against Namibia

Agnes Nabukenya delivered a performance for the ages, netting six goals as the Uganda dismantled Namibia 10-0 in the first leg of the first round of the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

Although Namibia were the hosts of the match, they played away from home, providing Uganda with a familiar stage for their emphatic victory.

From the opening whistle, Uganda dominated play, showcasing their attacking prowess and leaving Namibia scrambling for answers.

It took just six minutes for Nabukenya, the Kawempe Muslim LFC striker and reigning MVP of the Finance Trust FUFA Women’s Super League, to open the scoring.

She added to her tally in the 12th, 18th, and 25th minutes, securing an astonishing first-half haul of four goals.

Rinah Ariho contributed a brace, including a crucial goal in the 42nd minute to close the half at 6-0.

The second half saw no let-up in Uganda’s relentless assault.

Substitute Joan Kizza Namulindwa found the back of the net in the 69th minute, followed by Nabukenya’s fifth and sixth goals in the 71st and 75th minutes.

Isabella Winfred Kabarozi Blick capped the scoring in the 81st minute with a sublime finish, sealing the commanding 10-0 victory.

The second leg will take place on Sunday, January 19, at the same venue, with Uganda holding a significant advantage.

The aggregate winner will advance to face Kenya in the next round, moving closer to securing a spot at the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, set to take place in Morocco from October 17 to November 8.

This edition marks the first time the tournament will be held in Africa, with five teams, including hosts Morocco, set to represent the continent.

The Uganda Crested Teen Cranes will aim to join this elite group, inspired by their dominant start to the qualifiers.
