Uganda sealed their unbeaten run in the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League B with a clinical 59-run victory over Tanzania at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground.
Despite a modest batting display, the Cricket Cranes’ bowling attack, led by Player of the Match Juma Miyagi, dismantled Tanzania’s lineup to secure another commanding win.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Uganda posted 148 in 41.1 overs.
Raghav Dhawan anchored the innings with a hard-fought 63 off 102 balls, while Fred Achelam (21) and Dinesh Nakrani (23) provided brief support.
However, Uganda struggled against Tanzania’s disciplined bowling attack, with Ally Kimote (4/20) and Sivaraj Selvaraj (2/23) leading the charge.
Despite the low total, Uganda’s bowlers turned the game on its head. Juma Miyagi produced a match-winning spell, ripping through Tanzania’s batting order with figures of 6/17 in 8.1 overs.
His devastating performance left Tanzania reeling, as they were bundled out for just 89 in 29.1 overs. Cosmas Kyewuta and Bilal Hassan chipped in with key wickets as Uganda’s disciplined attack ensured there was no chance of a comeback.
With this win, Uganda completed a flawless run in the Hong Kong leg of the Challenge League B, finishing atop the standings.
The Cricket Cranes’ dominant campaign puts them in prime position to progress to the ODI-rated playoffs for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.
