The Formula 1 world is abuzz with anticipation for the upcoming 2025 season, and while many expect Red Bull Racing to maintain their iconic branding, star driver Max Verstappen has hinted at a reason for excitement surrounding the team’s new livery.
The 2025 F1 season officially kicks off in March with the Australian Grand Prix (March 14-16), followed closely by the Chinese Grand Prix (March 21-23).
The season continues with races across the globe, including Japan (April 4-6), Bahrain (April 11-13), Saudi Arabia (April 18-20), Miami (May 2-4), Emilia Romagna (May 16-18), Monaco (May 23-25), Spain (May 30-June 1), Canada (June 13-15), Austria (June 27-29), Great Britain (July 4-6), Belgium (July 25-27), Hungary (August 1-3), Netherlands (August 29-31), Italy (September 5-7), Azerbaijan (September 19-21), Singapore (October 3-5), USA (October 17-19), Mexico (October 24-26), Brazil (November 7-9), Las Vegas (November 21-23), Qatar (November 28-30), and concluding in Abu Dhabi (December 5-7).
Despite Red Bull’s reputation for minimal livery changes, Verstappen expressed enthusiasm during a recent Team Redline Twitch stream.
“I’m really excited for our livery, to be honest,” Verstappen stated, fueling speculation about potential subtle yet significant alterations. When pressed for details, he playfully teased, “Yeah, I’ll just say I’m super excited. Yeah, [it’ll be red], and a little bit of yellow and maybe a little bit of blue, a bit of carbon.”
His comments come as teams prepare for the F1 75 launch event in London, where all 20 drivers will unveil their 2025 cars.
While Red Bull’s familiar color scheme is expected, the exact application of colors and sponsor logos remains to be seen. The team has confirmed the loss of some of Sergio Perez’s sponsors, which could lead to some noticeable changes in branding.
Last year’s trend of exposed carbon fiber to reduce weight is expected to be less prevalent in 2025. The weight limit has been increased by two kilograms, addressing concerns raised by larger drivers. This change may allow teams to incorporate more paint and design elements without compromising performance.
Verstappen’s excitement about the livery comes despite reports that Red Bull has not addressed one of his complaints regarding last year’s car.
The specifics of this complaint remain undisclosed, leaving fans to speculate whether it relates to the performance of new teammate Liam Lawson, strategic considerations for the 2026 regulations, or simply a matter of team priorities.
Maintaining Verstappen’s satisfaction is crucial for Red Bull, especially with other teams reportedly interested in the talented driver.
The 2024 season saw Verstappen secure his fourth championship, overcoming a mid-season slump and fending off strong competition from drivers like Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc.
