Uganda’s Raghav Dhawan has been crowned Player of the Tournament at the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League B after a series of dominant performances with the bat.
The top-order batter was a model of consistency, scoring a half-century in every match he played, accumulating a total of 271 runs in just four innings.
Dhawan’s remarkable form saw him produce match-winning knocks, including:
- 85 off 105 balls vs. Bahrain – setting the tone for Uganda’s unbeaten campaign.
- 71 (Not Out) off 66 balls* vs. Singapore – anchoring a successful chase.
- 52 off 77 balls vs. Hong Kong-China – stabilizing the innings in a crucial clash.
- 63 off 102 balls vs. Tanzania – guiding Uganda to a defendable total.
His efforts earned him two Man of the Match awards and ultimately the MVP accolade, which was presented by Tournament Referee Wendell Labrooy.
Beyond the numbers, Dhawan’s composure at the crease, ability to rotate the strike, and knack for handling pressure proved invaluable to Uganda’s unbeaten run in Hong Kong.
His performances ensured the Cricket Cranes remained at the top of the standings, reinforcing their credentials as a team on the rise toward the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup qualifiers.
With his stellar showing, Dhawan has firmly established himself as one of Uganda’s key players, and his Player of the Tournament honor is a fitting reward for his heroics with the bat.
