The Uganda U-19 national cricket team will host a crucial preparatory tri-series against Tanzania U-19 and Uganda A from March 2 to March 8 at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
The series serves as part of the team’s final preparations for the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup Africa Qualifiers, set to take place in Nigeria.
The tri-series will provide Uganda’s young cricketers with an opportunity to gain match experience, refine their strategies, and build confidence ahead of the high-stakes qualifiers.
Tanzania U-19, a strong regional opponent, and Uganda A, which features senior and emerging players, will offer a competitive challenge to the team as they fine-tune their squad.
Head coach Emmanuel Isaneez emphasized the significance of the series in shaping the team’s readiness.
“This series is a vital part of our preparations for the U-19 World Cup Qualifiers. It gives our boys a chance to gain match fitness, assess their strengths, and refine their strategies before heading to Nigeria. We appreciate the support of Tanzania Cricket and our Uganda A side for making this possible,” Isaneez said.
The Uganda U-19 team has been engaged in intensive training sessions, and playing on home soil will allow them to utilize familiar conditions to their advantage.
The squad comprises a mix of experienced young players and fresh talent eager to showcase their skills on the international stage.
Cricket fans and stakeholders are encouraged to support the team during this crucial phase of their journey.
