Cadillac Revving Up: Joins Formula 1 Grid as 11th Team in 2026

In a groundbreaking announcement, Cadillac has secured its place on the Formula 1 grid for the 2026 season, becoming the sport’s 11th team.

Backed by General Motors (GM) and TWG Motorsports, this marks a significant step for the American automaker as it ventures into the pinnacle of motorsport.

The FIA and Formula One Management confirmed that Cadillac met the stringent requirements for entry, paving the way for a transformative partnership.

This move aligns with the sport’s new 2026 regulations, introducing fresh competition and bolstering F1’s appeal worldwide.

Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, welcomed the Cadillac Formula 1 Team, highlighting their commitment as a testament to the sport’s evolution. FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem called this entry a “milestone,” emphasizing the fresh energy and innovation Cadillac brings to motorsport.

Cadillac has been meticulously preparing for its debut, assembling a powerhouse team led by former Marussia Sporting Director Graeme Lowdon and renowned engineer Russ O’Blenes.

With facilities spanning the United States and the United Kingdom, the team has accelerated its development in aerodynamics, power units, and simulation technologies.

Dan Towriss, CEO of TWG Motorsports, expressed confidence in their robust foundation, citing their focus on cutting-edge advancements and top-tier talent acquisition.

Mark Reuss, President of GM, shared excitement about showcasing GM’s engineering prowess on the global stage.
