Draper Backs Sinner Ahead of Return from Doping Ban

Britain’s Jack Draper has defended Jannik Sinner, stating the world number one “does not deserve any hate” as he prepares to return from a three-month doping ban.

Sinner, 23, was suspended in February after reaching a settlement with WADA over two positive drug tests in 2024.

However, he was cleared of wrongdoing, with an independent panel ruling that accidental contamination from his physiotherapist’s treatment spray was the cause.

Sinner is set to resume competitive action on 5 May, marking his return at the Italian Open in Rome.

While some have criticized the timing of his ban—which meant he avoided missing a Grand Slam—Draper insists Sinner remains a “kind-hearted and good human being.”

The Brit, who practiced with Sinner in Monte Carlo last week, praised his talent and character, saying, _”When people ask about Jannik, I tell the truth – he is a genuine, nice person and an unbelievable player.”_

Draper also expressed excitement about Sinner’s return to the tour, stating, “His presence has been missed.”
