Franco Colapinto will drive for Alpine for the next five Formula One races, replacing Jack Doohan, the team announced.
The move follows a disappointing start to the 2025 season for Alpine, currently ninth in the standings with only Pierre Gasly scoring points.
The decision comes just hours after team principal Oliver Oakes’s unexpected resignation.
Doohan, a rookie, has yet to score, and Colapinto’s arrival from Williams over the winter had already put his seat under pressure.
Alpine stated that Colapinto will partner Gasly from the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix on May 18th, with an evaluation before the British Grand Prix in July.
Doohan will remain the team’s first-choice reserve driver.
