American Danielle Collins stunned defending champion Iga Swiatek with a decisive 6-1, 7-5 victory in the Italian Open third round.
Collins capitalized on an uncharacteristically poor serving performance from world number two Swiatek, securing her second win in nine meetings against the five-time Grand Slam champion and her first on clay.
After a dominant first set, Collins battled back from a break down in the second to clinch the match.
Swiatek, who had an excellent record in Rome, will now look to regroup before the French Open. Collins will face Elina Svitolina in the next round.
Other notable results saw Jasmine Paolini advance, while Madison Keys was defeated.
