Uganda booked a place in the next stage of the Softball Women’s World Cup qualifiers after defeating hosts Kenya in Nairobi to finish second behind South Africa.
The team sealed the spot with a decisive 14 to 3 win over Kenya in their final game at Jomo Kenyatta University, completing a strong continental campaign that began on November 28.
The turning point for Uganda came on Day 2 when they edged Kenya 7 to 5 in a tight contest before losing 0 to 12 to South Africa.
Despite that setback, the squad regrouped and delivered an emphatic performance in the final meeting with Kenya, ensuring they secured the second qualification ticket allotted to Africa. South Africa topped the standings while Kenya settled for third.
Uganda will now prepare for a tougher challenge in the global qualification phase set for June or July 2026.
The next round will take them to Peru, Czech Republic, and the United States, where they will face top ranked nations competing for spots at the Softball Women’s World Cup.
