Allan Okello has sealed a blockbuster move to Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC from Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC, and beyond the footballing significance, it is the financial package behind the transfer that truly underlines the scale of the deal.
The Ugandan international has ended his highly successful spell at Vipers SC after Young Africans finalised a transfer believed to be worth around $300,000 (Ugx. 1 billion), making him one of the most valuable signings in the region this season.
However, it is Okello’s personal terms that have placed him among Uganda’s best-paid footballers.
According to reliable information, the former KCCA FC academy graduate will earn a monthly salary ranging between $8,000 and $10,000, approximately Ugx 28 million to Ugx 36 million, at the Dar es Salaam-based club.
In addition to the salary, Young Africans have also provided Okello with a fully furnished house, a car and two return air tickets, a premium benefits package designed to make his transition seamless and underline how highly he is valued.
The deal caps a remarkable rise for Okello, who leaves Vipers at the very peak of his powers. He was instrumental in delivering the club’s historic 2024/25 Uganda Premier League and Uganda Cup double, finishing the league season as Golden Boot winner with 19 goals, an extraordinary achievement for a creative midfielder.
Across his two seasons at Kitende, Okello produced elite-level numbers, scoring 24 goals and providing 13 assists in 58 league appearances, a return that highlighted both his consistency and his decisive influence in the final third.
His impact was not limited to domestic football either, as he also led Vipers in the 2025/26 CAF Champions League, helping the Venoms reach the second preliminary round and further raising his continental profile.
Having joined Vipers in September 2023 from Algerian side AC Paradou, Okello quickly became the creative heartbeat of the team. His vision, technical ability and calmness under pressure made him one of the most feared playmakers in Ugandan football and a central pillar of Vipers’ recent dominance.
Young Africans, who are aggressively strengthening for sustained domestic success and a deeper run in the CAF Champions League, moved decisively to secure his signature. The size of Okello’s contract, combining a top-tier salary with luxury benefits, reflects both his standing in the regional game and the expectations now resting on his shoulders.
