The highly anticipated third edition of the Hamz Cup officially kicks off tomorrow at Hamz Stadium, with two thrilling fixtures lined up to launch this year’s tournament.
Sanyu D Bags FC will face Mutaasa Kafero FC in the opening clash, followed by Bakuli Car Dealers against Life Team later in the day. Both matches are scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m., setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting competition.
With a grand prize of UGX 100 million awaiting the eventual champions, teams have expressed confidence and determination ahead of the kickoff. Several participants noted they are eager to make a strong statement in the opening matches as the battle for top honors begins.
Tournament Manager Kasirye revealed that this year’s edition will feature new awards aimed at recognizing outstanding contributions both on and off the pitch. Among the initiatives is a special recognition for media personnel whose work helps promote the competition and local football.
“We want to appreciate everyone who contributes to the success and growth of the tournament, including members of the media,” Kasirye said.
A total of 32 teams are expected to participate, making this one of the biggest editions since the Hamz Cup was established. Now in its third year, the tournament continues to grow in popularity, attracting football enthusiasts from diverse communities while providing a platform for talent development and competition.
