National Men’s 50 Over League: Aziz Damani go top of the table

Juma Miyaji and Junaid Khan each picked up four wickets as Aziz Damani Cricket Club beat Africa Cricket Club by 9 wickets on Sunday in the National Men’s 50 Over league at the Entebbe Cricket Oval.

The early morning showers had threatened to wash out the game, but when it became clear it was raining no more, the covers were out and ACC elected to bat, a decision that the spectators didn’t like as it ensured a low scoring game.

By the end of power play, the scoreboard was reading 30 runs all out for ACC. Damani chased this target with great ease, losing just one wicket in the process.

Ghulam Udin with 10 and and Junaid with 18 were the batters that got the job done for the defending Champions.

This low scoring game saw Damani go top of the table. ACC meanwhile draw closer to relegation. They are just a place and a point above Tornado Bees who occupy the last spot in the dreaded zone.

Patidar against Budo was the other men’s game that was played on Sunday. The former won by 41 runs in Kamengo after an inspiration from Chintan Keran (70) and Navin Pindoria (71). Deepesh Hirani also scored in double figures, 20.

Timothy Kawunguzi, Micheal Lwamafa and Stephen Okiror scored 56, 33 and 20 respectively for Budo.

In the women’s division, Wanderers secured their second win of the season in form of a 7 wicket win over Pioneer at Lugogo. Pioneer who have now lost all their opening three games had started well, setting up a decent 140 all out, but Wanderers were good on the day.

Led by Rita Musamali (42) and Janet Nakiranda (32), Sam Walusimbi’s girls chased that in 25 Overs. Mildred Anyigo (24) and Hope Akiteng (13) also scored in double figures.

That victory takes Wanderers third in the table standings with 4 points.

Aziz Damani lead the women’s division with 6 points followed by Olila high who have 4.
