Dinesh Nakrani’s exceptional bowling performance propelled Uganda to a convincing 7-wicket victory over Singapore in the opening match of the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League B.
The medium pace bowler’s spell of 6 wickets for 20 runs proved to be pivotal for the home side.
The match, originally scheduled to be played at Lugogo Cricket Oval, was shifted to the Entebbe Cricket Oval due to poor ground conditions caused by heavy rainfall.
Despite the last-minute venue change, the Ugandan team adapted well and capitalized on the home advantage.
Speaking after the match, Nakrani acknowledged the impact of playing at home.
“The home conditions definitely played a crucial role in our victory. We knew the pitch well and were able to exploit it to our advantage,” he said.
“The crowd’s support was also fantastic, and it motivated us to perform our best,” he added.
With this impressive start, Uganda has set the tone for their campaign in the Challenge League B. The team will aim to build on this momentum and secure victory as they face neighbors Tanzania next.
