Vivo Energy Uganda has reaffirmed its commitment to the growth of motorsport in Uganda by announcing a UGX 100 million sponsorship package for the upcoming Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally.
The rally, set to take place from May 9 to 11 in Mbarara City, will once again see Vivo Energy serve as the title sponsor, continuing a longstanding partnership with the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU).
Announcing the sponsorship at a press conference held in Kampala on Tuesday, Vivo Energy Uganda Managing Director Joanita Menya Mukasa emphasized the company’s dedication to local sports development.
“We are proud to be the title sponsor of the Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally once again. Our long-standing partnership with the Federation of Motorsport Uganda reflects our unwavering commitment to the motorsport community in Uganda,” she said.
Mukasa highlighted that motorsport offers more than just entertainment, noting its potential for youth empowerment, engineering advancement, and national pride.
“By investing in events like this, we are helping to build a stronger sporting ecosystem and inspiring the next generation of drivers, engineers, and fans,” she added.
As part of the sponsorship, Shell V-Power—Vivo Energy’s premium performance fuel—will remain central to the rally.
With a 98-octane rating, Shell V-Power is engineered for optimal engine performance, reduced friction, and cleaning of vital engine components.
The fuel, co-engineered with Scuderia Ferrari, promises to bring world-class performance to Ugandan roads.
The event will also see the continued sponsorship of elite rally driver Ronald Sebuguzi, marking the 14th consecutive year Vivo Energy has supported the veteran racer.
The Pearl of Africa Rally continues to be a key fixture on Uganda’s national motorsport calendar and is a qualifying event for the African Rally Championship (ARC) series.
Vivo Energy urged fans to attend the rally and enjoy the action responsibly, stressing adherence to safety protocols for a secure motorsport experience.
